News Archive The First Dedicated Bilateral Breast MRI Facility in Middle Tennessee Specialty MRI opened as the first dedicated, breast MRI center in Middle Tennessee. With extensive experience in advanced breast imaging, our board certified radiologists are pleased to offer this service to enhance the conventional and digital x-ray mammography and breast ultrasound services offered at other breast centers. Breast MRI is rapidly establishing itself as an essential tool for the evaluation of breast disease. When used together with mammography and ultrasound, breast MRI can provide valuable information for the diagnosis and staging of breast cancer. It is used primarily for determining the extent of disease in newly diagnosed cases, monitoring the response to neo-adjuvant chemotherapy in breast cancer patients and screening patients at high risk for breast cancer. Specialty MRI features a state-of-the-art GE 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance System equipped with an Invivo eight channel, bi-lateral breast coil and Confirma’s CADstream, the latest in computer aided detection (CAD) software. Utilization of CADstream provides enhanced breast MR image analysis, allowing radiologists to interpret breast MR images more efficiently and effectively. Additionally, the facility offers MRI-guided biopsy services for difficult to see breast abnormalities.
